Ice Warrior Challenge Winner at Ski Dubai announced
Hundreds of athletes took part in the popular endurance challenge which was organised in collaboration with Dubai Sports Council
The winners of the 13th edition of the Ice Warrior Challenge, which took place today at Ski Dubai in collaboration with Dubai Sports Council, have been announced. The annual endurance challenge saw athletes tested both mentally and physically, as they took on more than 20 obstacles such as monkey bar swings, tyre runs and net crawls in sub-zero temperatures.
Among this year’s participants were the winners of the first-ever Ice Warrior Challenge at Ski Dubai’s sister brand, Ski Egypt. Mohamed Hosny and Diana Karim won flights and accommodation to Dubai as part of their prize so they could compete at the Ice Warrior Challenge at Ski Dubai.
Prizes were awarded in two categories: Elite Fitness and Regular. The Elite Fitness category awarded the first three males and first three females to complete the 2km obstacle course in under 25 minutes. The Regular category was open to athletes of all fitness levels.
Elite Fitness Category Winners
Leading the Elite Fitness Female Winners was Diana Karim, winner of the first ever Ice Warrior Challenge in Ski Egypt, who finished with a time of 46 minutes and 36 seconds. She was followed by Tetiana Maltseva and Gada Shaikli with a finish time of 49 minutes and 30 seconds and 49 minutes and 40 seconds respectively. Ahmad Hajjo led the Fitness Male Winners, finishing the race at 36 minutes and 4 seconds. Close on his heels were Abubaker Al Houqani and Ayoub El Hamji with a finish time of 45 minutes and 15 seconds and 48 minutes and 36 seconds respectively.
Regular Category Winners
Zouhaier Miraoui and Jessica Mant emerged as the overall male and female winners of the Regular Category with a finish time of 17 minutes and 51 seconds and 29 minutes and 48 seconds respectively. Second went to Rich Zielinski and Sonja Kek with a finish time of 21 minutes and 34 seconds and 30 minutes and 37 seconds respectively. Completing the top three were Djoufack Sylvain and Maddie Drakeley with a finish time of 21 minutes and 56 seconds and 30 minutes and 50 seconds respectively.
Mohammad El Etri, Vice President, Global Snow, Majid Al Futtaim Leisure, Entertainment & Cinemas attended the event and presented the winners with their trophies and prizes. All participants received a commemorative medal and souvenir T-shirt once they crossed the finish line.
Ski Dubai and Dubai Sports Council regularly collaborate to host fun and unique events given their shared goal to improve community wellbeing by promoting a healthy and active lifestyle and making snow sports accessible to everyone.
